ROCKY HILL, CT - The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and Commissioner Sean M. Connolly extend sincerest congratulations to the state’s newest Veteran Service Organization (VSO) leadership. Outgoing state commanders of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans recently welcomed new leaders into these important positions as heads of their respective organizations.

The following changes in leadership have occurred: the state American Legion’s Commander Edward DeGumbia replaces Louie Robinson, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Robert Priest replaces John Schmidt, the Disabled American Veterans Commander Mark Revard replaces Dominick Cortese, the AMVETS Commander Jim Neeland replaces Chris Paulus and the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America Commander Morty Pear replaces Jerry Baggish.

Commissioner Sean M. Connolly said, “Connecticut is 200,000-plus Veterans strong and we owe a lot to our VSOs, non-profits, local organizations and volunteers who assist in ‘Serving Those Who Served’ with the DVA. Caring for our great Veterans is not something we can do alone and are grateful for the collaborative efforts our agency has with our VSO partners now and in the future.”

Connecticut’s VSOs are vital to Veterans as they assist with federal, state and local benefits they have earned for their service to our country. The DVA continues to strengthen its relationships with VSOs by holding quarterly meetings at the campus to discuss matters surrounding issues pertaining to Veterans with the above mentioned leadership as well as the Connecticut Patriot Guard, Korean War Veterans, Marine Corps League, Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
