Stamford, CT - On Tuesday, March 20, CT dairy farmer Alexis Cone of River Plain Dairy in Lebanon, CT along with the New England Dairy Council, will visit the students of Rippowam Middle School for a chef table hosted by Chartwells Dining Services. The chef table serves as an initiative to support Rippowam’s breakfast program since the school recently received a USDA equipment grant by the New England Dairy Council. During the event, students will sample nutritious smoothies and overnight oats, while Cone will illustrate to students that just like them, cows need optimal nutrition to be their very best. They’ll have the chance to see up close the different food components that cows enjoy eating each day. In addition, they’ll learn that cows on the farm have their very own nutritionist that analyzes their feed for the proper proportions. The chef table will be hosted in the school’s cafeteria during the lunch waves from 11:00am - 1:11pm.

On Friday, March 23, students at KT Murphy Elementary school will participate in a chef table during lunch in the school’s cafeteria from 11:20am to 1:10pm. Students will enjoy surprise giveaways along with samples of breakfast smoothies and oatmeal prepared by the district’s Executive Chef. Additionally, Stamford was recently rewarded a $30,000 grant from AASA, The School Superintendent Association funded by the Walmart foundation to increase breakfast participation using alternative breakfast models. KT Murphy was among those selected schools to use the funds to expand their breakfast program.

Both events associate with the district’s initiative to encourage more students to take advantage of the healthy choices available for school breakfast.
